New! Back to School Gear… May 7, 2009

I know, I know, summer hasn’t even started, but with one starting kindergarten in the Fall, I am already obsessing. I am having these new goodies photographed by a professional, as I am giving up (my photos leave a little too much to be desired) but since I am impatient, I am posting my not-so-great representations here, now.

Anyway, at Sequoyah, where my children go to school, kindergartners are required to carry large totes, rather than backpacks. The totes we are offering are super roomy, heavy-duty canvas—just what the teachers ordered! And for the bigger kids, backpacks. We’ll add to these to the site, but may wait til our new site is ready. If you want to place your order now, just shoot us an email.

Here is my little pre-school graduate at her graduation “ceremony”. Ha. I don’t think we had those for pre-school when I was little.

Give Me a Break… March 20, 2009

Okay, so TECHNICALLY I got one…it IS Spring break….but geez, this week calls for another one without what I’ll call the “BIG 3″. As I was whining to Sarah about our baby kitty being lost, and the mailman taking off with  two huge orders that were meant for customer pickup (and bore no address or postage), she reminded me that these things happen in three’s. It was meant as a warning, but no need…I also lost the diamond in my engagement ring this week. Not such a stellar line up, huh?

Well, here at the tail end of it, there has since been a bit of resolution. We did find Painter, our precious kitten, but it didn’t end well. We live on a busy road and she didn’t know better. My kids are heartbroken, as am I. I really fell in love with her, and am so grateful for the brief time we had with her.

The post office somehow figured out where one of the packages belonged and took it to the customer…shocker. And a huge relief. My mother said “see? there is STILL good in humanity!”

And last evening, hubby found the DIAMOND! This is the second time he has found a stone that fell out of my ring (I am REALLY Hard on jewelry) but then I remembered, he’s IS an archaeologist. His eyes are trained for this type of thing. I will hire him out if you happen to have lost something on the smaller end of the scale :)

Certainly not the perfect outcome for everything, but I think this is what they refer to as closure.

And there is a mighty sweet kitty in heaven this morning.

New Product: Insulated Lunch Totes! December 12, 2008

Yay! I am soooo excited. A couple of years ago, I introduced “lunch boxes” to the site–and they were super cute (at least I thought so), but sadly, I could never quite fugure out the best way to produce the lable for them. Plus, they probally weren’t all that suited to be lunch boxes, made of some sort of cardboard I think–anyway, we use one of ours as a crayon carrier and another for doll clothes, which is just great. But that didn’t solve my lunch box dilemma.

lunchbox_web1Ever since then I have been on the hunt for a product that would work for Kat in the Hat…something of great quality that I could produce and I think this is it! It’s made of that same material that cloth coolers are all made of, has heavy duty webbed handles and a zippered interior. The inside has an insulated foil lining and the outside has a pocket. It comes in lots of great colors, and any artwork from my site can be added! (colors: bright yellow, hot pink, kelly green, lavender, orange, red, khaki, and light blue). They are insulated, big enough to hold a 6-pack and serve as a cooler for the pool or beach (they have a gusseted bottom). They are soft and smushy so they fit easily into back packs without poking anyone in the back :) 9″ x 7 1/2″ x 5″ and reasonably priced at $32.50

Scratch… November 9, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — katinthehat @ 10:41 pm

that new reindeer design I posted last week. I like this one better. One of these days I’ll add these to the site…I am woefully behind and have travel coming up…if you like it, and you want it, just shoot me an email.reindeer-with-scarf

Hubby built a skateboard ramp this weekend, so I’m pretty sure an emergency room visit is in my future. Otherwise, all is status quo within the Gage household. Brrrrr. It’s cold outside. I think for the first time in years, I am excited for cold.

It must be the insanity setting in.

Prayers for Kate (can’t wait to see you), prayers for Nena who I think must have had her baby AND HER PHONE NUMBER ISN’T WORKING…CALL ME!!! and prayers for dad…love you all. K

gosh, it’s been along time, huh? and today there will be no visuals, no proper capitalization etc…just a quick update for those who care (hi mom). last week we went to market. how cool is that place? pretttttty nifty. rows and rows of designer jeans…HELLLLOOOOOO TRUE RELIGION, Frye boots (I die, a-la Rachael Zoe), max azria…seeing the collections before anyone else…LOOOOOVE it. Although it was a really skant turnout compared to usual they say (due to this lovely economy) it went well for Kat in the Hat—so, a new chapter will begin. I returned home about as stressed out as I’ve ever been, and quit my job (TOOOOO many deadlines in my life)—I guess that was pretty scary, so my blood pressure shot up and I ended up staring at hospital walls wired up like frankenstein for two days (worrying about tee overload of course). Yeesh. Never a dull day around here. And my apologies to all of you have experienced my stress via your INCORRECT t-shirt, if you were so lucky. I have made more mistakes recently than ever before. But I am home now, cool and calm, trying to put a dent in the stack (no more mistakes!!!) and looking forward to the “freelance” life, or whatever it is. One of those balls I was juggling has fallen. YAY.

my sweet hubby deserves an award for holding down the fort and actually doing it pleasantly without any teeth grinding or grumbling. THANK YOU. And i’ll post pics from market at some point when the dust settles.

…hugs. k

Creative Juice July 30, 2008

My customers have been drinking it. They come up with such nice ideas and it’s especially great, because then I HAVE to do new designs to fill the order…so no procrastination on the design front. Actually, my problem is time, not so much procrastination, but either way, they have good ideas and I love the challenge of helping them get what they are looking for. Here are the designs that “happened” just today:

Keep your requests coming folks. It’s what keeps my job interesting…I love it!
