Scratch… November 9, 2008

that new reindeer design I posted last week. I like this one better. One of these days I’ll add these to the site…I am woefully behind and have travel coming up…if you like it, and you want it, just shoot me an email.reindeer-with-scarf

Hubby built a skateboard ramp this weekend, so I’m pretty sure an emergency room visit is in my future. Otherwise, all is status quo within the Gage household. Brrrrr. It’s cold outside. I think for the first time in years, I am excited for cold.

It must be the insanity setting in.

Prayers for Kate (can’t wait to see you), prayers for Nena who I think must have had her baby AND HER PHONE NUMBER ISN’T WORKING…CALL ME!!! and prayers for dad…love you all. K

To Clarify…and Other Stuff November 5, 2008

Ha. I had a call from a customer worrying that the job I quit was Kat in the Hat. I am so flattered :) No, the job I quit was my writing job with the city magazine, so I could spend MORE TIME on Kat in the Hat! I would say ALL my time, but I’ll still be writing freelance among other things. Anyway, that’s that…thanks for your concern :)

Now, Here’s what happening lately. Stinky had his last game(s) last week–a double header. Nana came for the occasion too which made it extra special.

of course Sassy was on hand to cheer him on…

I also came across a “crabby princess” at the ball field (a kat in the hat tee). Her mom says it suits her to a “tee”.

Next up…Halloween.

Sassy was a “questrian” or “horsey rider”. She literally “rode” her horse to every door (she is very serious about her sport).

And this year she be-friended the same fella that made her BAWL last year :)

The original plan for Stinky’s costume was actually sort of clever. He was a Jail Bird…meaning he had big crazy black bird wings and a beak to go with his jail suit plus a ball and chain. But he decided the Bird part of his costume was…well, for the birds. So he opted to draw on a goatee and run with it. You may recognize the adorable little girl (she has been a Kat in the Hat model)…that’s Stinky’s best friend (and one true love). The boy has verrrry good taste, eh?

yum

Sassy had a play date while Nana was here…which means they actually had an ACTIVITY. They made cupcakes. Of course they wore more than they ate but a good time was had by all.

supergirl

Finally, meet super girl. I walked into the kitchen the other night and was greeted by the masked avenger. She would say “hellllp, helpppppp” and then take off with her dishtowel, er cape flowing behind her hollering “I’ll save you! I’ll save you!” Lordy Lordy.

Well, that’s it for now folks. Happy hump day! Oh wait…one more AWESOME THING. I have been able to get my hands on the CUTEST EVER PJ’S which can be personalized just like the tees (plus, they are organic cotton, the softest EVER). Once I get samples made I’ll add them here and to the site.

I have been looking forever, so I am realllly excited…think you will be too :)

The difference a (few) dollars makes…. November 1, 2008

I had no idea no idea that so much of great photography was because of a great camera. I borrowed an incredible one and spent an hour with it…OMG. Now I will be selling all of my belongings off so that I too, can own one of these miracle-workers (in ten years or so). Geez, they are PRICEY. I had a 2-hour download with a local photographer on the technical aspects of the thing and he sent me off to “practice”. I literally had an hour to spare so I didn’t experiment as much as I would have liked, but anyway, here are a few of my favorite pics (some are very random still life’s):

Sort of creepy I know…an antique doll that was my moms…and my ratty rag dolls (the raggedy ann book is from the 1800s—from hubby’s family)

Okay. Here is the cool part. I am doing a sort of “apprenticeship” with a local photographer. He does primarily weddings but also some portrait work, and would like to do more children’s portraiture._I am actually tagging along for a wedding tonight. I am not responsible for any images, but I get to shoot and see what I come up with. He will continue to train me, and once (and if ever) I am at a level he is comfortable with, I will become a contract photographer for his company. AS IF I have time for this…but maybe I haven’t mentioned it here on the blog yet? I think I have….I quit my job. So this is a nice mental safety net for now. Lord knows I need one! Anyway, I am excited for my photography schooling. Sort of a dream come true!
