Easter’s On It’s Way! February 20, 2008
My favorite time of year. The dogwoods start to bloom, the birds are building their nests, miss sassy pants has a birthday. I live for Spring and Summer so just talking about it makes me want to go barefoot. Here are a couple of Easter Tee designs….they are on the site as well. (I’ll have versions of them at A Beautiful Room in Knoxville too.) And then I also have some sweet things with the patchwork line you should check out…a bunny, a lamb…they are my FAVES right now.

When I was uploading the pj photo the other day this one caught my eye. Posted a couple of these a ways back, but not this one. And I like it. It could use some more photoshop doctoring probably…but since I don’t really know how to do what I want to do (yet) it is what it is.
It has been a wacky few days. I was having MAJOR site difficulties that I won’t detail, but let’s just say it’s been…well… a lot like that really hot place down below planet earth. Anyway…I think for the most part we’re rolling again, aside from a few *hopefully* easy fixes. I got patchwork to the site too. It needs tweaking as well, but it’ll get there. That is really the funnest thing ever. The options are endless. I had to make myself stop addding to it because it was getting ridiculous! (Becky, did I spell it right?????)
Lot’s of interesting irons in the fire so I’m rather excited to see what’s in store for me, for Kat in the Hat…all of it. Trying to Let Go and Let God as they say.
I’ve had no time to take pictures lately and probably won’t for a while. I am missing that. I have some travel coming up, plus some other things…phew. I am on the hamster wheel of life with no stopping in site.
Oh…one more fun tidbit. Someone from London commented on a post the other day. This whole world wide web never ceases to amaze me.
Well, since I’m talking all over the place I might as well add a kid anecdote. Actually I have two. Yesterday Sassy Pants found a fancy organza bow in the bottom of her bow box…and carried it in to me and very solumnly asked….”Mom? Is this for my wedding dress?” so stinkin’ cute. And H-man lost a tooth in his sleep last night. This could only happen to him.
I will attempt to get back into some sort of bloggin’ groove…but I’m thinking it will only last for the next couple days and then madness hits again. As hubby keeps reminding me…this is what I wanted to do…juggle twelve ka-gillion balls in the air. I just wish there was more sleep involved.
patchwork revisited… February 16, 2008
I couldn’t seem to wrap my mind around this one. Tooooooo many options. How to contain it in a way that someone could actually make sense of it? More importantly…how the heck to present it on my website in a way that someone could actually order it. It’s still a lot to think about/choose from…but I can make it work on the site now (I think).
You pick a design option, a pattern swatch and a solid color. Then give me your text…either a name, an initial/name or a single initial. I’ll take it from there. Here are the options…
so…I’m hoping this is somewhat less complicated…for now, send me an email if you want to order. I will try to get it to the site this week. Before I close…these pjs “happened” today too…I was printing transfers for some orders and this design just…came to me. Lately, it’s sort of getting on my nerves. I truly don’t want any new ideas right now…but for whatever reason they are taking over the old noggin. I’m sure there will soon come a day when I have none at all, so I guess I’d better embrace. Anyway…have been investigating pjs for some time now…and this may not be the brand I end up with…but I’m liking the design. What do you think?
The photo of Sassy Britches isn’t doing the design justice because I shot the photo in bad light and to make up for it, desaturated the image…the vibrancy of this design is what makes it fun. It will be available as a tee design too. Ok. I think I’m done for tonite. Nite folks!
Introducing…Patchwork! February 10, 2008
I had a zillion things to do today. But it happened. As I was working on something else, the wheels started turning. An idea was born. And suddenly a day is practically gone. This is the both the blessing and curse of creativity. I didn’t WANT a new idea today, I wanted to finish the zillion things. But at the same time…I am really excited about this. It’s a very simple idea…but I had yet to figure out to do it! I haven’t reigned it in yet and made it easily order-able..unless you send me a rambly email with what you want (and that’s fine by me!) But I will get it to the website eventually…
I’m thinking tees…but wouldn’t these letters also be cute on ANYTHING? Stationery, totes…whatever?! And I can also put the word directly on the garment without a circle behind it. I think a big, fat, patterned letter or name right on the shirt will be way cute. Anyway…it’s three o’clock, and still the zillion things. If you want to order, just refer to this as the patchwork line, and specify the pattern you want using the names above..tell me if you want a background color/shape, if you want to mix and match letters, whatever…in an email to kathryn@katinthehatdesigns.com and if you need a dot or stripe in different colors, just tell me what you want…anything is possible!

to any of you in check in regularly, to have been boooooorrrrrrrr-ing. Sorry to say, that isn’t changing today but I did want to update in some way. The Hannah Kate show went great…thanks to all of you who shopped. It is always quite a challenge pulling it off with so much else going on…but I survived and the little princess has clothes for life. (Thanks to hubby too for putting up with it all–he fondly refers to it as Hannah Hate. Such a sweetie.)
More thanks to the hostesses for my own shows and your hard work. Because of you, I am sleeping very little these days but am so grateful. The fulltime day job and a family leave Kat in the Hat to the wee hours, which I have to say isn’t my ideal but I think they call these growing pains. Sheesh…can I get an epidural?? I have a few irons in the fire that may make things a bit easier…so cross your fingers. I’m just waiting and praying that things will fall in to place as they should, and in the right timing. And if they don’t…to trust that something different/even better is in store! I have also made some discoveries that will make home shows run better so I am very, very excited and you hostesses will be too.
Stinky boy has had a rough go…he tripped over a ball on the playground last week and got good and scuffed up. The next day someone accidently head-butted him…in the face… and he got his first shiner…and then he tossed cookies all weekend. But they say what doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger, right? And he has been a real trooper.
Miss thang is doll obsessed…and has a “pack-pack” fetish. She carries an old one of brothers everywhere she goes and wigs if it is out of site.
See? I did not lie. Booooooooooorrrrr-iiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnng. But hey…it’s my life and I’m not complaining! (Ha. Hubby is rolling his eyes on that one.)
